Animated Buttons

Designing your own buttons can be a lot of fun especially if the button states are animated. Animated buttons can be made simply by making movieclips. You can think of movieclips as repeating film strips. Making individual movieclips for the Up, Over and Down positions makes your buttons unique and dynamic. Imagine designing a button which is also a character!
Inserting movieclips into the different button states can be done by first converting the states into blank keyframes. This prepares the individual states to accept frames for your movieclips. I almost forgot the fourth state which is the Hit state. It is the active area wherein your mouse begins to interact with your button.
Below is the link to an animated button I made from a previous graphic symbol I named Maria. In the Up(static) state Maria is just blinking. When your mouse enters the Hit state (the active area is the whole image) she will smile. When you click and hold the mouse button she will roll her eyes. Try it!

What you have done seems very valid indeed. Search me how you did it and why and where and the use of?

I made this animated button using Flash 8. You can use buttons for interactive stories or for a website. I just used this example to show that buttons need not be confined to the usual. I will post a sample of how movieclips,simple animations and buttons work in my next entries.
My avy is sort of a momento of my first attempt to do simple movements.
