MindzleA Gifted Sculptor
My ongoing pursuit in rekindling my childhood interests has given me the opportunity to meet new acquaintances. People that I would never had the chance to meet if not for my search to learn and improve.
One such example is Mr. Romil Feliciano, a sculptor I met at a Toy Convention held last June 2006. He showed me a sample of his work, a small clay sculpture of a Filipino mythical creature called an “Aswang”. I really did not see the entire sculpture because it was in a box. However, I could see the remarkable detailing done on its hands which included veins. I told him that I was quite interested in learning how to sculpt and proudly showed him the clay I just bought there at the convention. He pointed out that the clay was too hard. I immediately returned the clay I bought and replaced them with one that he recommended. We exchanged emails and I told him I would try to sculpt something when I got home. Tried some practice sculpts which received favorable comments from him.
It is quite nice that such gifted artists like him still find time to teach newbies like me. He has his own curiosity shop where he and his wife sell his fine works. You can visit his site at http://www.geocities.com/romilvf/.
